Description of the
The landlord of a subsidised (social) rental flat may only let it to prospective tenants who have been expressly designated by the relevant authority (district offices, independent towns, major district towns or “major delegated municipalities”) or who have been issued with a housing eligibility certificate. Further information on the housing eligibility certificate and the nomination process can be found under “Related Topics” – “Housing Eligibility Certificate; Application”.
The landlord of a subsidised (social) rental property must, within two weeks of letting the flat to a person seeking accommodation, provide the relevant authority with the name of that person and, where applicable, submit the housing eligibility certificate provided by them.
If it is foreseeable that a subsidised (social) rental flat will become vacant or ready for occupation, the landlord must notify the relevant authority without delay and inform them of the expected date on which the flat will be ready for occupation or become vacant.
Similarly, the relevant authority must be notified of the sale of residential property and the acquisition of home ownership.
