Local authorities may stipulate in their cemetery regulations that a burial in their cemetery must be notified in advance. They are not legally obliged to do so. For the local authority, as the cemetery operator, such notification makes it easier to record the information required for a burial and to organise burial dates and the use of burial facilities.
