  • Description of the

A travelling trade operation is defined as a situation where a trader, outside a business premises and outside a trade fair, exhibition or market, temporarily offers goods or services for sale from a fixed point of sale, or solicits orders for goods or services.

Notice of the organisation of a hiking camp must be given to the authority responsible for the venue four weeks before it begins, if

    • the event is to be publicised through a public announcement and
    • participants’ travel to and from the hiking camp site is to be arranged by the organiser, as part of its business operations, or by persons acting in conjunction with the organiser.

The public announcement must contain the following information:

    • the type of goods or services distributed through the travelling warehouse,
    • the location of the temporary camp,
    • the name of the organiser, the address at which they are established, and details enabling the organiser to be contacted quickly and communicated with directly, including a telephone number and an email address, and
    • information, presented in a clearly recognisable and legible form or in any other clearly perceptible manner, setting out the conditions under which the consumer is entitled to a right of withdrawal in respect of contracts concluded within the framework of the travelling warehouse scheme.

Furthermore, the public announcement must not include any free gifts (goods or services), including competitions, prize draws and raffles.

The travelling camp may only be managed on site by the organiser named in the notification or by a representative authorised in writing by that organiser; the name of the representative must be provided to the authorities in the notification.

The requirement to hold a travelling trades licence applies regardless of whether you are registered as a travelling trader.
