The ordinance on the fire inspection specifies in particular the purpose of the fire inspection, what the fire inspection covers, who is responsible for carrying out the fire inspection and what orders the municipalities can issue.

Fire inspections are the responsibility of the municipalities.
The municipalities shall decide whether to carry out the fire inspection at their own discretion. The fire inspection must be carried out if there are concrete indications of dangerous conditions.
The municipalities can call in representatives of the local fire brigade to carry out the fire inspection.
The municipalities can carry out the fire inspection with their own personnel with the necessary qualifications or commission suitable experts, such as the local chimney sweep, to carry out the fire inspection or call in for the fire inspection.
In order to prevent risks to life, health, property or possessions that may arise from fires, the fire alarm systems, rescue and deployment routes, fire water extraction points, smoke extraction systems and organisational precautions in particular should be checked.
