Description of the
Between the Spessart and the Steigerwald, the Saale Valley and Tauberfranken, over 2,100 winegrowers have now come together across more than 1,200 hectares of vineyards to form a community committed to quality, tradition and innovation. Founded in 1959, the Franken Winegrowers’ Association is one of the six largest winegrowers’ cooperatives in Germany. Its grapes are grown in renowned Franconian vineyards – from Großostheim to Zeil am Main and from Hammelburg to the Tauber Valley. The mild climate and mineral-rich soils in these regions provide the ideal conditions for producing delightful wines. In addition to Silvaner in Bocksbeutel bottles, the wine range includes all the common Franconian grape varieties. Every wine region, every individual vineyard and every winegrower lends the wines their distinctive character. GWF wines regularly receive numerous awards at a wide range of national and international wine competitions.
