Christian Weichselfelder is the new local spokesperson for Hohenfeld. On Monday evening, he received 95 out of 126 votes in the second round of voting, thereby beating Rudolf Sattes. In the first round, the software developer fell just one vote short of an absolute majority. The other candidates, Thomas Schmitt and Horst Podschun, did not make it through to the run-off.
Weichselfelder announced his intention to act as a link between the Hohenfeld district and the town. He promised to show the same level of commitment over the next six years as a town councillor. Local representatives have the right to speak and submit motions in the town council – but no voting rights. Lord Mayor Dr Enis Tiz congratulated the newly elected district representative and emphasised that taking on a voluntary role was an honourable endeavour. Weichselfelder aims to foster cross-party cooperation and direct communication with residents, the local authority and the Lord Mayor. “We need a strong voice for Hohenfeld,” he said to the applause of the approximately 130 guests in the well-attended sports hall.
